The weekend of August 6-7 was relatively relaxing. On Saturday, we wanted to hit an antique fair in Anglet so we grabbed some picnic supplies, had lunch by the river and then headed to Anglet. Unfortunately, upon arrival, there was clearly no event and, when Francis looked it up again, he noted the comment from the organizer stating it was once a month and we picked the wrong Saturday! DOH!
Nevermind! We'll find somewhere else to explore so we ended up going to Bidarray instead. We checked out Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, it's cemetery, and had a drink at the little cafe across the street. We meant to stop at the bridge along the river but forgot on our way out so we'll have to go back because it's gorgeous! There's also a winery down in that area that I would like to visit. On Sunday, we had a family lunch and then went to Hendaye to try to see his sister's boathouse but parking was insane and we couldn't find any after 20 minutes so we gave up and decided to do something else. We ended up stopping in Espelette instead because we noticed something going on and there was a parking spot right there! Some things are meant to be so we found a nice cafe, had a drink, and enjoyed some local festivities. We typically like to pace ourselves so this was a very busy but beautiful weekend for us.
